Broadway Trip to Benefit Two Local SC Arts Groups

phantom Photo2Liberty, N.Y. (April 21, 2014) – A trip to Broadway will be benefiting two arts groups in Sullivan County. The dual fundraiser will take place on Saturday, May 3rd when the Rolling V motor coach will depart with a bus load of theater goers to see The Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic Theater on Broadway in New York City. The package includes roundtrip transportation and a ticket to see the Saturday matinee performance of The Phantom of the Opera. Participants will have the option to experience “THE RIDE” if they have already seen Phantom, or just take the bus into NYC. Portions of the proceeds will be split between the Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop (SCDW) and Nesin Cultural Arts (NCA).

The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop has served our community with quality live performances for over 64 years. The 2014 season will be featuring productions of Snow White and Guys and Dolls just to mention a couple. The organization is raising funds to restore the workshop’s Marquee and Blade Sign at the Rivoli Theater in South Fallsburg which they purchased in 1998 and is the home of their productions and movies. “This is going to be an exciting experience for all in attendance and SCDW is looking forward to partnering with Nesin Cultural Arts and CD Trips in this fundraising endeavor,” says Board President, Heather Strauss.

Nesin Cultural Arts is one of Sullivan County’s newest arts organizations and is no stranger to doing fundraisers with CD Trips as past trips have raised nearly $1000 for the organization.

According to Ellen Nesin, one of NCA’s founding members, “our mission is to provide our local youth in Kindergarten through 12th grades with performing arts opportunities in music, art, drama and the visual arts throughout the year. We also offer multi-generational programs and outreach in our surrounding communities. In 2014 NCA will present student recitals, benefit concerts featuring Slam Allen and his Blues, Band, The Rock Ridge Band, our Children’s Chorus and our Summer Integrated Arts Institute among others. Our Aspiring Young Musicians program provides lessons in piano, strings and voice with the support from the Nesin Scholarship. All funds raised through NCA’s fundraisers benefit student programing.”

The price is $121 per person.
